Intern Files: Autumn Escape in 17 Sundays
Posted on October 17 2014
Hi again, gorgeous! Intern Ashby here.
It's really truly finally fall! October is one of my favorite months of the year, with gorgeous colors and mild temps. Ahhhh.
The NYU Columbus day weekend was accompanied with an additional day off of class for a mid semester break. My friends and I took advantage of the long weekend and escaped the bustle of the city for a quieter fall getaway.
I packed my bags with new product from 17 Sundays, one of our favorite Australian brands! Even though I used their product to wear a fall getaway, it's currently spring down under.
Before our day of hiking and picnicking, we sat out on the porch of our friend's home outside of Philadelphia for coffee and conversation.
I wore my favorite scarf- a pretty pashmina jewel-toned scarf, around my shoulders like a shrug. I wore the shirt with my favorite leggings by Lysse, ankle booties, and a felt hat.
There was some accessory switching happening between myself and my friend, Sam.
She looks pretty darn good in my hat!
This cute top goes with everything and it is long enough to cover my booty! Perfect for pairing with cozy leggings.
Chambray shirts are as versatile as denim. This one is perfect, it doesn't gape open between buttons, it fits just right.
Sunny selfies with Bobby! Hard to keep our eyes open.
On a colder, greyer day, I would wear this chambray shirt more along the lines of this:
I love layering a chambray shirt underneath a chunky knit cardigan, like the Marled Colorblock Drapey Cardigan by BB Dakota. I would pair it with black denim, like the Emma Straight Leg Jean in Black, and top it off with grey riding boots and a cross-body bag.
The next day, the sun was hiding and I brought out the 17 Sundays She's Thunderstorms Shrug. We got burritos and set out to eat them in a scenic park.
I wore it with my wannabe cowboy boots (I'm just a city girl), comfy jeans, a pumpkin colored sweater, and my camel and black convertible bag.
I love how this shrug has such a trendy pattern but in black, white, and red, the colors are more neutral. It's very easy to pair with anything in your closet!
A kimono or shrug is totally wearable in the fall- I just layered my sweater under it, and the shrug acted like another layer of protection (and style).
So many colors!
For less of a cozy fall look and more of a night time look, I would wear the shrug kinda like this:
I love to wear cute shrugs, kimonos, or jackets over body con dresses. This is the Bunting Dress by Carmakoma, a beautiful black body con dress that would look perfect under this shrug and paired with funky jewelry and accessories.
That's all for now, gorgeous!
Have a colorful fall.
